Recurring Yeast Infections

Having to deal with a recurring yeast infection in my personal life…

Have you ever had a big date scheduled that you’ve been excited about for weeks, but then the day before your big date something happens that is sure to wreck your good time?  Perhaps your date informed you that he had to get home early on date night so you would have to rush through the night or reschedule. Or maybe you got a monster-sized pimple right on the tip of your nose.  I wish what happened to me the day before my big date was so simple. But I don’t do simple!  I had to deal with a recurring yeast infection that completely ruined my night, and presumably his, too.

I should have taken steps to prevent my yeast infection problem because I get the infections several times a year.  The doctor calls it “recurring yeast infections”.  They are just like any other yeast infection, except that they happen over and over again.  Apparently, according to my doctor, there is really no safe way to prevent yeast infections from happening.  I will just have to continue making appointments with him, and continue lathering up in anti-fungal after my yeast infections start.  Those creams aren’t exactly cheap either.

I went on my big date anyway.  At dinner it was all I could do not to run screaming in pain into the bathroom every five minutes to scratch in private.  I squirmed so much at the theater that the folks in the seats behind us asked to be moved.  I must have looked so miserable on the ride home that my husband actually seemed angry at me.  Probably because he spent so much on the dinner and theater tickets that he hoped I would show him some gratitude in the bedroom when we got home, but soon realized that wasn’t going to happen.

Started my research to hopefully relief my suffering…

So the next day I said to myself, “Self, you need to take matters into your own hands and find out what these frequent yeast infections are really all about!” and I set out on a quest to learn all I could about recurring yeast infections and if there really was a way to prevent them.  Here’s what I learned:

1)  Every woman has a bit of yeast naturally and, as long as it doesn’t start to multiply and grow, it is perfectly healthy to leave alone.  Having yeast and having a chronic yeast infection are as different as day and night.

2)  Not every itch or discharge or night of painful sex is due to a yeast infection.  There are several other causes, some that could be quite dangerous like sexually transmitted diseases, which have some of the very same symptoms as a yeast infection.  At this time I should apologize to my doctor for calling him too expensive because it is important to make sure that you actually have a yeast infection before treating it.

3)  There are perfectly good over the counter products that can effectively treat yeast infections.  But, I also found out that you have to be very careful using these products, especially for recurring yeast infections.  Your body can develop immunity to them and your yeast infections can really get bad if you think you are treating them but you aren’t.

4)  Yeast infections can be caused by eating too much of a certain McFastFood (although I’m not sure I believe that one).  What I do believe, because I read it in some online health type journals, is that these infections can in fact be caused by not eating right or eating too much sugar.  Diabetics tend to have problems with chronic yeast infections, as do people with poor immune systems.  Some other factors that can lead to yeast infections are poor sleeping habits, menstrual cycles and the changing hormones that accompany them, poor health, some types of medications, and pregnancy.  You can also get yeast infections through sexual intercourse, but it is rare.  Yes, even men can get recurring yeast infections.

5)  I’m not alone!  Three out of every four people in the world will have a yeast infection at some point in their lives, and more than half of them will have recurring yeast infections.  That means that when I’m out to lunch with my three best girlfriends I can talk about my problem and only one of them will think I’m totally disgusting for bringing it up because the other two have had a yeast infection, too.

My failed attempts at finding a long-term solution…

I decided to give a couple of the over the counter things a try because I’d had enough yeast infections in my life to know that this was certainly one of them.  After paying for the big date, I was a little afraid to ask the husband to pay for a prescription.  I found a lot of anti-fungal yeast infection products to choose from at the pharmacy, so I grabbed a few of them.  You know, just in case.

The first one I tried was a type of gel.  I’m not really sure how that was supposed to get rid of my yeast infection.  Just as soon as I would get the goo where it belonged it would slide right back out.  I wasn’t sure how to keep it in there so, rather than standing on my head until the yeast infection went away, I tried the next remedy, a cream.  This was definitely much easier to apply, but after a while I felt like the medicine had been secretly replaced with some kind of foreign sticky substance.  I was making noise when I walked!  I wasn’t very excited about trying number three, the suppository, so I didn’t.

IT’S ACTUALLY GONE FOR GOOD!!!!!!!!

What I did instead of trying to figure out how the suppository was supposed to work was get back online and look for more answers.  I found them, too.  As it turns out, there is a natural remedy for recurring yeast infections.  Natural is good, but it gets even better.  The website said it would take care of my yeast infection in just 12 hours.  Wow!

Well, I had tried everything else.  The 12 Hour Cure for Yeast Infection product was a little more expensive, but it was less than I would be spending on another doctor visit and prescriptions, and it had a money back guarantee, so I gave it a try.  I can tell you two things about this 12 hour cure for yeast infections.  (1) It works incredibly, I’ve never felt more comfortable, and (2) I was able to talk my husband into another big date night – of course I reciprocated in advance.

If you have problems with recurring yeast infections, don’t spend your money on prescriptions and over the counter medications that aren’t working.  Really, give the 12 Hour Cure for Yeast Infections a try.  You can find it here.
